Andreas wins his first title after 2nd round kimura! - [May, 2009]
Austin Springer (6-2) and current Tri-City MMA featherweight champion stood in the way for Andreas first title, the FCFF Super Fight Title, this weekend at Rumbe at the Roseland. Like most people expected, Austin tried to avoid the striking skills of “The Swede” by immedietly trying to take the fight to the ground. He managed to take Andreas down several times and land some decent ground and pound but Andreas was constantly defending and even had a good triangle attempt from bottom. The second round started the same as the first one but with one big difference. Austin was tired, Andreas was just getting warm. After successfully defending a takedown early in the second round, Austin had no strength to defend the following throw of Andreas Correa, who ended up on top in cross side. There Andreas moved quickly to secure Austin’s arm who couldn’t defend. As tired as he was, Austin still refused to tap. The pain finally got too overwelming and the referee had to stop the fight due to verbal tapout. Andreas now moves up to a 6-2 record with five consecutive wins!
